The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council’s Artisan Design Jewellery Awards 2024 promises to be an unforgettable celebration of wearable art and craftsmanship, set to captivate audiences on February 12-13 at the Ice Factory, Ballard Estate in South Mumbai. With the esteemed presence of Guinness World Record Holder Mr. Krishna Prakash – IPS Officer, ADGP Force One, as Chief Guest, the event will shine a spotlight on the fusion of jewellery and artistry.

Hosted by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), supported by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the Artisan Design Jewellery Awards 2024 will feature the theme ‘Jewellery as Art,’ perfectly timed to coincide with Valentine’s Day and celebrate the enduring love for art, design, and jewellery.

The judging panel for the 7th edition of The Artisan Awards 2024, Powered by GIA, meticulously selected six winners from a pool of 20 stunning jewellery pieces showcased on January 22, 2024. With over 600 entries spanning the globe from countries like India, Canada, USA, Bahrain, Egypt, Dubai, and Pakistan, the event promises a diverse and captivating display of creativity.

The event will be attended by luminaries and aficionados from the realms of Arts, Crafts & Design, including curators, gallery owners, art school educators, celebrities, socialites, architects, painters, sculptors, and seasoned jewellery designers, alongside emerging talents.

This year’s themes, ‘Unusual Materials’ and ‘Objet Trouvé’ (Found Objects), challenge designers to push boundaries and explore unconventional materials to create exquisite pieces of jewellery that blur the lines between art and adornment.

‘Objet Trouvé’ delves into the realm of repurposed objects, where mundane items take on new life as artistic expressions. Designers are encouraged to infuse personal narratives into their creations, transforming ordinary objects into cherished treasures.

Meanwhile, ‘Unusual Materials’ invites designers to experiment with contrasting materials, blending precious elements with unexpected mediums such as cement, titanium, wood, porcelain, bamboo, slate, meteorite, glass, and recycled plastic, among others.

Vipul Shah, Chairman of GJEPC, expressed the council’s vision of positioning India as a global design hub, aligning with the government’s initiative of Design in India. Milan Chokshi, Convener of Promotion & Marketing, emphasized the awards' role in inspiring designers, students, and manufacturers to achieve excellence and innovation.

The esteemed jury panel, featuring renowned figures like Alice Cicolini, Biren Vaidya, Payal Singhal, Apoorva Deshingkar, and Toktam Shekarriz, brings a wealth of expertise to evaluate the entries and recognize outstanding talent.
